Urban Courtyard Garden

A shared courtyard garden for two flats, as part of a new development. Each of the flats required an element of privacy within the garden, as well as access to a shared garden space. Inspiration for the design was taken from the movement of a flock of starlings in a murmuration.

Each flat has direct access to its own secluded terrace, divided from the main space by bespoke curved metal screens.  From there these terraces lead onto the shared space which features an elongated water feature & seating area.

Spaces & views are framed by multistemmed amelanchier trees whilst pleached trees provide privacy on one side of the garden.  Planting consists of hardy perennials & grasses, which mingle & sway together in the breeze.
